Thailand Woman's Cremation Stopped when Knocking from Inside Casket Heard, Temple Staff State
A female thought to be passed away and on the verge of incineration at a Buddhist temple in the suburbs of Thailand's capital has been found living by temple staff.
The temple's general manager the manager was "startled" to detect a faint tapping emanating from the casket, he informed media sources.
The manager explained he asked for the casket to be unsealed and observed her "opening her eyes slightly and knocking on the wall of the casket". "The woman had likely been tapping for several minutes," he added.
Her brother of the 65-year-old lady claimed municipal authorities had informed him his sibling had died. Nevertheless, the monastery's administrator explained the brother lacked a death certificate.
As the manager tried to explain to the family member the process for getting a death certificate, monastery staff heard a soft tapping coming from inside the casket.
Once it became clear the lady was alive, the monastery's abbot said the woman should be transported to medical facility right away.
The doctor later verified that the woman had been suffering from serious hypoglycaemia - a medical state where glucose levels get dangerously reduced, local accounts indicated.
The physician eliminated the chance that she had suffered respiratory failure or cardiac arrest, as per the reports.
The younger brother explained his sibling had been bedridden for the previous two years and as her health worsened she seemed to stopped breathing on the weekend, according to the monastery's administrator.
The family had travelled from the province of Phitsanulok in the country for the funeral rites, making a nearly 311 mile trip.
