Edwards and Gary O'Neil are two of the initial candidates in the frame to succeed Vitor Pereira as head coach of Wolves.

Pereira was dismissed on Sunday following the squad's ten-game winless start to the Premier League season.

Furthermore both candidates - both of who have previous links to the team - are part of the names to be evaluated by the Wolves ownership.

Edwards is presently at Middlesbrough, which would create a possible obstacle to his hiring at Molineux.

Nevertheless the ex- Luton Town head coach - who played over a century of games for Wolves during his playing career - is considered a leading contender for the position.

The 42-year-old is reportedly enjoys support from the club board as they start the search of hiring a fresh manager.

Gary O'Neil is also appearing as a unexpected candidate, although he would be a shock choice considering he was released by Wolves in the previous winter.

The former West Ham midfielder is out of work which means the club would not be required to pay any compensation.
